The DC NewsBash 2022 was a Smash!

Breast Care for Washington (BCW) is still basking in the afterglow of the love and support from all who attended the smashingly successful DC NewsBash 2022 at Pearl Street Warehouse on April 19, 2022!

We were honored, humbled, and thrilled that Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, graciously attended, speaking to the multitude of attentive supporters about President Biden’s Cancer Moonshot. Dr. Biden related their personal commitment to finding cures for all types of cancers as President Biden focuses attention on reinvigorating that quest.

The monies raised at the DC NewsBash will go toward an upgrade of BCW’s Information Systems and Technology.  This will enhance Breast Care for Washington’s ability to bring clinical and administrative improvements to the practice allowing us to continue to serve our patients. Our goal, as always, is to ensure that our patients are receiving the highest quality breast health services.

It’s been a very difficult two years for everyone. It was nourishing for the soul to be at Pearl Street Warehouse seeing all of the community-minded members of the Washington DC area television news industry, past and present, there to support Breast Care for Washington and the people we serve. We all watched and listened to Ayesha Khan of Fox5 News talk about her difficult breast cancer journey, and then to participate in the joy when she announced her final chemo session was just around the corner.

Founded by Washington-area anchorwomen, the DC NewsBash attracts supporters, survivors, politicos, and friends to come together for the evening to help raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds for breast cancer causes. This year, Breast Care for Washington, and our mission to reduce breast cancer mortality in the Washington DC Metro area, was the beneficiary of the generosity by the television news community, local sponsors, and all who attended the event.

All of us at Breast Care for Washington are immensely grateful to the DC television anchorwomen who planned, organized, and executed the event with the support of the generous sponsors.

Our deepest thanks to the DC anchorwomen and the sponsors:
