A Night of Purpose, Progress, and Pink
On a beautiful spring evening in Southeast Washington, DC, Breast Care for Washington welcomed supporters, partners, and community leaders to celebrate a meaningful milestone: 12 years of service, impact, and advocacy.
Hosted at our new home inside the Max Robinson Center, the event was more than a celebration; it was a reflection of how far the organization has come and a bold step toward the future of equitable breast health care.
An Evening of Community and Connection
Held on April 24, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, the anniversary celebration brought together a diverse and passionate group of stakeholders.

A New Home, A Bigger Mission
Now located within the Whitman-Walker Health Max Robinson Center in Ward 8, BCW is expanding access to critical health services in a community that needs it most.
Over the past decade, more than 20,000 women have received high-quality breast imaging services—regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
With the addition of general X-ray and ultrasound services, BCW continues to break down barriers to care and bring essential services directly into underserved communities.
Honoring a Champion: Karen Leder
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of Karen Leder, founder of Power of Pink, as the 2026 Breast Care for Washington Champion Award recipient.
Karen’s advocacy journey began with a deeply personal mission—to honor her sister’s breast cancer experience and ensure that all women have access to screening, education, and navigation.
Since BCW’s earliest days, Karen and Power of Pink have played a vital role in supporting the organization’s mission and expanding its reach.
Her impact is a powerful reminder that community-driven advocacy can save lives.

While the evening honored the past, it also reinforced BCW’s commitment to the future.

With a new location, expanded services, and a strong network of supporters, Breast Care for Washington is entering its next chapter with momentum and purpose.
